Derby Augustine Adoku Ndiomu (1946 – 2023)

Archbishop (Dr) Derby Augustine Adoku Ndiomu was from Odoni community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa state. He was best known as an apprentice for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Augustine Adoku Ndiomu in full Bishop (Dr) Derby Augustine Adoku Ndiomu was a Church founder that kept the faith in Jesus Christ. He shepherded the Christlife Glorious Bible Church for over three (3) decades.


Augustine Adoku Ndiomu was born on the 28 May, 1946 into the family of predeceased Chief and Mrs Adoku Ndiomu of Gbekebor Community, Odoni in Sagbama Local Government Area. However, his mother (Mrs Awowo) hails from Agbangu family, Freweribai Compound, Tambiri quarters, Agbere town also in Sagbama Local Government. Suffice it to say, the Ndiomu’s of Odoni community are people of renown; among whom was the Late Major General Charles Ndiomu (once Director-General National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos) that made his mark in the military and several others too. Major General Charles Ndiomu was Derby Augustine’s Uncle.


Derby Augustine Ndiomu had his Primary education at Local Authority Primary school Odoni and obtained his first school leaving Certificate between 1955-1960. Thereafter, he proceeded to Secondary Modern School Agbere from 1961-1963; he was there for only three years and couldn’t continue due to financial constraints, he dropped out from Class 3 in 1963. But not withstanding, He braced up and had an informal education in Technical Education/Training. He was prolific in welding and fabrication services.
Later in life, in the mid 80s. He saw the need of furthering his education. So, he enrolled at the following Christian educational institutions:

  • All Nation for Christ Bible Institute Benin City (1988-1991);
  • Christian Ministries Institute, Port Harcourt, 1988;
  • Northern California Bible College with study center in Owerri, 1988;
  • Pilgrims Theological Seminary, Rivers State and Obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology in 1991. At same Pilgrim Theological Seminary, he was bestowed an honorary Doctorate degree in Theology.

Career Life

Daddy as widely known among family and colleagues had a wonderful career life. When he abruptly left secondary school in 1963; he went job hunting and fortunately, in 1964, he joined the Niger Delta Basin Authority as a Survey Attendant, but never stayed long with the government establishment. He left and secured another job with an American firm called Mcdermott Nigeria Limited as a Senior Foreman from 1964 to 1978. After serving for 14 years with the firm, he resigned and thereon, he became a successful self employed, freelance and entrepreneur.

He established strings of businesses like the Dakdon Finance Limited in 1978; Ekusi Bakeries Sagbama LGA 1980; in 1994, he was a hotelier, the sought after Dakdon Hotels Limited once located at No 10 Iloabuchi/Abba Street, Diobu Port Harcourt, Rivers state was his; later he became a proprietor of Bright Future Nursery/Primary School in Port Harcourt in 1997. He had a stint in politics too. In 1988, he was appointed a Board member of Primary School Board Sagbama old Rivers State. From 1985-1989, in his community Odoni, he was Chairman, Community Development Committee, Odoni, a position he saddled for 12 years without any blemish or dint on his name.
In 1992 thereabout, the Master Bakers Association, Old Rivers state unanimously made him financial secretary. His services for the body was epic and remarkable.

Family life

He was a devoted father to his children and others. He was the a polygamist until he heeded the call to righteousness in Christ Jesus in 1977. Therefore, he sticks with one wife as the Bible demands. Mrs Etuatimi Ndiomu was his heartthrob till his demise in 2023. In total he had Seven biological children who are alive and doing well.

Christian Faith

Heeding unto Jesus Christ and keeping faith was the highlight of Derby Augustine Adoku Ndiomu sojourn on earth. He was a devout Christian that loved the Lord Jesus in and without. In 1977, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the Church of God Mission, Warri under the Ministry of Papa Ayo Orisejafor. He grew in the faith and got ordained Deacon by Archbishop Benson A. Idahose of blessed memory in the 80’s. Much later, due to his zeal for the work of God, he was ordained Elder and served the Ministry/Lord faithfully at its branch in Eleme town Rivers State.
Thereafter, he was commissioned into the Lord’s vineyard for souls winning in the late 1990s as he tenaciously preached the gospel overly.

Much later, there was a need to Shepard flocks, so he established the Christlife Glorious Bible Church Incorporated Port Harcourt in 1993 and before long the Church grew with faithful members who are delivering on the mandate of soul winning/salvation through Jesus Christ. The church has branches at the following locations:

  • Christlife Glorious Bible Church. No 1 Road 23 Federal Housing Estate, Mile 4, Rumueme, Port Harcourt
  • Christlife Glorious Bible Church. No 10 Iloabuchi/Abba Street, Diobu Port Harcourt.
  • Christlife Glorious Bible Church Omoku town etc.

Death Date

Archbishop (Dr) Derby Augustine Adoku Ndiomu passed on peacefully on the 9th of February 2023 at Noble Clinic, NTA Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers state. He was 77 years.
